Frenchie Gives Back: Austin Pets Alive and I Stand With My Pack
Welcome back, Frenchie Fam! This month, we're highlighting TWO incredible charities doing their part to make the world a better place for animals. For all of March, we'll be donating a portion of our proceeds to "Austin Pets Alive!" and "I Stand With My Pack"!
Austin Pets Alive! or APA! is a rescue based in Austin, Texas. Before the organization's founding in 1997, Austin's animal shelters had a euthanasia rate of 87%. Through hard work and the contributions of an incredible community, APA! is proud to rep a 97% save-rate today.
APA! supports spay/neuter programs in the Austin metropolitan area, as well as adoption, foster, and volunteering programs both associated with and unaffiliated with Austin's animal shelters. The organization's aim is to match homeless companion animals with their forever families, limit the number of homeless pets in the area through catch and release programs, and continue to work toward maintaining "No Kill" status in all of Austin's area shelters.
What's more, APA! is a leading supporter of animal research and specialized rescue in the Austin area, including Dazey's Ward (an animal ward dedicated to saving cats with ringworm), the Parvo Puppy ICU, the Bottle Baby Kitten Nursery, and national research into parvovirus, feline leukemia, and other major animal diseases.
A hop, skip, and long-leash walk away, Los Angeles County-based I Stand With My Pack (or ISWMP) focuses on saving the lives of animals and preventing suffering and cruelty for homeless animals in California and beyond. ISWMP funds the removal of dogs from LA city and county, as well as high-risk shelters throughout California.
The organization's goal is to rehabilitate and rehome as many animals as possible, while also providing educational programs and awareness resources based in hands-on field work, disaster relief, fundraising, non-violent protest, and legal action.
As a leading name in animal advocacy, ISWMP is known for collaborating with like-minded individuals, organizations, and governments in the US and internationally, helping to build momentum for sustained changes in animal welfare around the world.
ISWMP is a traditional adopt/foster/volunteer network, but it also facilitates specific projects and campaigns like Project PAPA (the Pre-Approve Pitbull Adopter program), which matches bully breeds -- the largest percentage of shelter dogs in LA and beyond -- with Los Angeles families that can care for them and keep them out of shelters.
Another ISWMP project is the Daisy Berkowitz Fund, named in honor of a dog who passed away from cancer. The Daisy Fund benefits medical dogs and hospice dogs with large growths, like Daisy herself, offering them a better chance at a happy life with foster families that can show them joy and love in their remaining days.
Both ISWMP and APA! offer incredible programs for dogs in California, Texas, and beyond. The Frenchie Bulldog team is honored to be part of the effort to improve the lives of dogs all over the world, and we're so glad to make these two organizations our March charities.
Thank you for being a part of the Frenchie family!
